Day 3 Friday 31 May

It was foggy/smoggy this morning and after we had a beautiful breakfast at the hotel, we heard all the Mosques calling the Muslims to come and worship and we went out for a walk, which did not last long as the temperatures were close to 40C and shade hard to find. Even the bus stops are enclosed and air conditioned! We retreated to our hotel and waited for our Dubai City Merchants tour.
The afternoon tour took us to the landmark Burg Al Arab Hotel which is shaped like a ships sails  like the local ships. After driving through the very expensive Jumeirah suburb where appartments cost $US 22,000 per square meter! We arrived at the Jumeirah Mosque for a photo opportunity and then continued on to the Bastakia neighbourhood with their houses cooled by wind towers and on to the Al Fahidi Fort and the Dubai Museum.
We then crossed the Creek in an "abra" (open boat) to the hustle and bustle of the Gold and Spice Souks.
The Gold Souk was amazing with every shop full of Gold jewellery, chains and people spending money! Signs say "NO PHOTOS" to protect their original designs.
