After a free morning to pack and have a last look around Monaco we were taken on a coach trip past Nice, Cannes, and Marseilles but did not stop anywhere except a service station for a toilet and snack break. Our time has been great in Monaco with lots of walking and gawking. For mine walking the racetrack and seeing the pits and all the infrastructure was a highlight followed by all the fabulous cars of the rich and famous . I don't really think it would be useful to have a car here because there is no parking and houses don't have garages, you just drive around and pose!. Some of the people leave a bit to be desired, but they have it and can see that we don't! Some of them would run you over if you get in the way! Closely followed in the highlights is the architecture and the use of every square inch of ground even tho it is virtually on a cliff. Of course the roads are very narrow as well.
Our guide today told us that Real Estate in Monaco costs between 20,000 and 40,000 euros per square meterso that means the smallest apartment would cost about 2,000,000 euros plus the transfer fee of 440,000 euros.
What a bargain I have signed up for 2 as a holiday place for the family.
On to Arles and boarding our Avalon Cruise, starting with a safety drill at 5.30pm followed by a welcome reception with the Captain and then dinner. They certainly do food in style and I can feel my waistline swelling already!
Then to unpack our bags and find our way around the ship as we cruise around the "Carmargue", which is famous for wildlife but all we saw on this evening was a couple of cows and a million mosquitoes!!
