Didn't see much of Chalon Sur Saone as we partied last night and off at 9am to Beaune.
We visited the Hotel Dieu which was a charity hospital as far back as the 15th century and is now a museum although the rear half is still used for a nursing home. Most of the people who came here were dying and were put 3 to a bed and made comfortable till the end. The inner courtyard is beautiful, set off by the fabulous glossy ceramic roof tiles. There is even a river flowing under the floors for their water needs and probably to flush away the rubbish. There is also a big kitchen and a pharmacy with all the old cures.
We wandered around this fortified old town for a while before climbing back on the coach bound for Paris.

Our arrival at the Pullman Hotel Montparnasse was not great as the local Avalon representatives did not do their job before we got there and we had to queue for our rooms ( at least 50 rooms) and then it was the wrong type, a twin, and we had go change it. The Rep said why did we need a double? To which I replied - It is the city of LOVE isn't it?
A walk around trying to find a light snack proved difficult and we eventually sat in a little Crepe place . I ordered crepes with nutella and nuts - I have never seen so much nutella and it was all on my crepes. Hard to swallow and some what of a comedown from our gourmet eating on the cruise!
The sun does not go down till after 9 and it is still light at 10pm so going to bed was a bit of a challenge.
