Day 15 Wednesday 12 June

After a truly ordinary buffet breakfast (the scrambled eggs had mashed potato and something else in them) and a bums rush to get it we went to the Lobby to catch our Panorama City Tour.
The same Avalon Rep had us wait in a corner for the bus and when a couple of people decided to get some air outside she  yelled at them " I did not tell you to move yet did I".
The 3 hour tour took in photo stops for the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triumph, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Opera along with the Champs Elysees. The weather was not conducive to good photo taking but we all had umbrellas. I like Paris for all its beautiful old buildings and appartment blocks with their balconies and ornate fascades. The Royal buildings and Museums are incredible and opulent and you wonder how the Kings got away with such extravagance for so long!.

This afternoon we did the Palace of Versailles and what a beautiful place but what extravagence with gold leaf everywhere. And the grounds - as far as the eye can see - landscaped gardens.
The French people dont impress me much as they walk/drive straight thru you as tho you dont exist - but the crepes are great. We will probably be glad when we get to Britain!

After another tough job to find some casual dining we headed for the Montparnasse Tower - Paris's highest - to see the lights on the Eiffel Tower at 10pm. It was very crowded but we got a good view although we were unable to exit the viewing platform for a long time so we stayed for the 11pm show and it was completely dark by then. A very good light show of Paris and The Tower.
