Day 31 Friday 28 June

We woke up this morning in the beautiful town of Strasbourg and started with a canal cruise and the customary guided walk around the town which is dominated by the Strasbourg Cathedral. Beryl was actually glad to be back in France!!! That wore off over the space of the day as the rudeness hit home again. Shopkeepers in particular were impatient with our money counting and such things and don't get in the way of a bike!! Strasbourg is a very nice little town much like the towns on the banks of the Rhone river with their town walls and big Roman gates. All have ABC problems but you start to ignore the long winded explanations of the story of all the bishops etc buried there.
After lunch we went for a coach drive  thru the Alsace countryside and liked what we saw, and after looking around the town of Alsace we went to a wine tasting for the white wines of the region which Beryl liked.
We noticed huge nests on top of the Church and other buildings and we were informed that they were Storks nests weighing up to 500 kg. One stork was in residence and there were more on the way back, in the fields,  but we did not see them as we both dozed off!!- Nice wine!!!
Tonight we were treated to a wood carving demo by the cuckoo clock makers that we visit tomorrow
in the Black Forest.
